Ali Clarke: Call Out For Dancers
Together with the Courthouse Arts Centre Wicklow choreographer Ali Clarke is seeking one performer from any artistic discipline to join the cast of a new interactive production to premiere in October 2022. Performers of all backgrounds and abilities are welcome to apply for this creation. Performers should have an affinity for working interactively with the community and for co-creation. Experience in physical disciplines including dance, circus and physical theatre is a plus but not required. For this production Ali is seeking energetic performers who are independent, interested in audience engagement and are experienced in working in an interdisciplinary environment.
Rehearsals:
Rehearsals will take place at the Courthouse Arts Centre, in Tinahely during the Summer months with exact dates to be planned in consultation with the chosen performer. All rehearsals and performances will be paid at fair rates.
About the choreographer:
Ali Clarke is a Bray based choreographer with a degree in Dance Performance from Fontys Dance Academy in Tilburg (NL). In 2015 she initiated the company KNOT Kollektiv and has been building her repertoire as a choreographer since. KNOT Kollektiv are an interdisciplinary company focusing on the crossroads between dance and circus with a strong focus on the creation of interactive performances which bring the audience together as a community. KNOT Kollektiv are internationally recognised with support from Chassé Theater and Podium Bloos in the Netherlands, Tanzwuchs Freiburg in Germany and fAUNA in Portugal.
Besides her work with KNOT Kollektiv Ali's work as a choreographer is supported by the Irish Arts Council and the Courthouse Arts Centre in Tinahely and she is currently part of the Creation Artists trajectory with Carlow County Council, Dublin Dance Festival, ISACS and more. Ali's work is characterised by her strong trans-disciplinary approach and her passion for exploring the interface between public and performer. Her work has been awarded widely including an Arts and Disability Research Award ('22), a Wicklow Arts Council Artist Award ('21), the Dance Ireland HATCH ('21) and LaunchPad ('20) Awards, the Arts Council Ireland Dance Bursary ('21) and Professional Development Award ('20), the Chassé Theater Culture Funds ('19), the Cafe Theater Festival Award for Young Audiences ('18) and more.
