Dance Ireland AGM Sunday 23 April 2017

Dance Ireland AGM takes place in DanceHouse on Sunday 23 April at 2pm.

All members are welcomed. The AGM is your opportunity to participate in the development of the organisation and celebrate our collective achievements over the past 12 months. In addition to members approving the business of the company, reviewing the 2016 Annual Report and Directors’ Financial Statements, there are two board positions to be filled.

Dr Orfhlaith Ní Bhriain has been co-opted, and will join the board of directors from 23 April. This brings the number of directors to nine.

Two directors, Anne Maher and Michelle Cahill are stepping down from the board. This means there are two vacancies to be filled.

Nomination and Election Process

Nominations to the board are welcomed from the membership. The closing date for completed nominations is 5pm on Thursday 20 April.

For nominations, the procedure is simple. A voting member can nominate another voting member. The nominated member must give notice by email of his/her intention to go forward for election, and must confirm their intention to speak to their nomination on the day.

Nominations and acceptance of nomination should be emailed by 5pm on Thursday 20 April to Paul Johnson, Chief

At the AGM members vote on the nominations, after hearing from all candidates.

Should a voting member not be able to attend, they may vote by using a proxy form. A proxy vote enables the voting member to select their candidate(s) in advance. Proxy voting forms are available on request, once the nomination closing date has passed, and should be returned no later than 5pm on Friday 21 April.

Dance Ireland operates a one member category/one vote. An eligible voting member is a member, of at least one full membership year, from Associate, Educational Institute, Friend, Performer/Choreographer, and Organisation categories. Please note: Student category members are not eligible to vote.

Members’ Think Tank

Following the AGM, we invite members to join us for a ‘think tank’ session. An opportunity to discuss, share ideas and focus on the pressing issue of the lack of dance producers. This think tank, is part of our commitment to actively engage with members and their issues of concern. More details to follow.

Members’ Drinks Reception

We invite all members, their guests and the wider dance community to join us from 6pm for a drinks reception, celebrating another successful day and also looking ahead with confidence to the year ahead. An ideal time to relax, share and unwind together.
