Tyrone Guthrie Residency: Siobhán Ní Dhuinnín

Mon 11 Mar 2019 - Mon 25 Mar 2019
10:00 - 18:00
Tyrone Guthrie Residency

Siobhán Ní Dhuinnín was awarded the Dance Ireland Tyrone Guthrie Residency.

While in residence at Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Annaghmakerrig Siobhán will begin to develop a duet with her father, traditional boat-builder, Pádraig Ó Duinnín. This work examines questions relating to transmission, language and tradition in the context of a father-daughter relationship. Together they will investigate the shared materials of body, time and space in contemporary and traditional contexts and explore the meeting of these elements through their lived physical experiences as makers.

During this period they will focus on developing a shared movement vocabulary stemming from the process of building a three hand West Kerry Naomhóg together, which they are currently finishing. Siobhán will continue to research this work during the year as part of an Arts Council, Next Generation Award of which she was a recent recipient.
