Stephen will teach a ballet class firmly grounded in technique and musicality, following the usual progression through barre work and centre practice, to pirouettes and allegro.
It will be suitable for all professional dancers seeking to maintain strength and technique.
Please see below for our Covid-19 in studio protocols.
Stephen started dance training at the Elliott-Clarke School in Liverpool, underwent further training at Bush Davies Schools in East Grinstead, Sussex, before graduating from Central School of Ballet, London (1985). During his subsequent performing career, he danced with several European ballet companies including London Ballet Theatre, Malmö Stadsteater Balett (Sweden), The National Norwegian Ballet and The Scottish Ballet.
Guest appearances have included performances in Japan, Greece, Switzerland, Spain, Venezuela, and the USA.
In 1999, Stephen was invited to join Ballet Ireland. Since his appointment as Education Officer a year later he has developed the company’s wide-ranging outreach programme, which includes an extensive programme for national schools, performance workshops geared around current repertoire and an annual summer school, hosted across all provinces of Ireland during the summer months.
Most recently, Stephen has developed a summer course for schoolteachers, piloted by Ballet Ireland at DanceHouse during July 2021.
Stephen has choreographed two works for Ballet Ireland, “Figaro, Factotum” (2003) and “School for Lovers” (2004) and over forty works for performance by children and young adults, including commissions from Ballet Ireland, Irish National Youth Ballet, The College of Dance (Dublin), Lyric Opera and Blessington Arts Festival.
In addition to his work with Ballet Ireland, Stephen fulfils frequent engagements as guest teacher and coach throughout Ireland. He has collaborated numerous times with productions for Irish National Youth Ballet and currently oversees the INYB Boys Associate training programme.

Please note the following measures have been put in place for the well being of all who use DanceHouse.
Collectively, we will find a new rhythm for interacting while ensuring we follow best practice in keeping ourselves and others safe as we move in the studio space.
- Changing rooms and showers are open, with a limited capacity of 5 people permitted in the area at a time. Shower area capacity is limited to 3 people at a time.
While changing rooms and showers are available for use by those who need them, we do encourage everyone to arrive in the clothes needed for practice, whenever possible.
- Each group or class entering DanceHouse has a specific time to do so, 15 minutes before their class starts.
This is done to minimise crossover between groups entering and leaving, keep the flow in the building and to prevent clusters of people in the foyer and stairs.
Unfortunately, you cannot come earlier than above to keep the number of people at the safest level.
All participants must leave the studio promptly after class – time for cool down will be part of the class and there will not be additional time in the studio after class for this.
These times are scheduled to limit the crossover of people entering and leaving.
