Ballet Átha Cliath is a short film produced and directed by Irish film maker Howard Jones. The film was shot over the course of one day in the summer of 2016 and uses site-specific dance performance to create a visual love letter to the city of Dublin.
A triptych of pas de deux tap into the dynamic rhythms of the city and its dwellers, from a golden sunrise over Sandymount Strand, via the ferocious, improvisatory energy of the Grangegorman squats, to the somnolent and sepulchral dusk of the financial district after hours.
The ballet was choreographed by Zoë Ashe-Browne and features an original score composed by Irish space rock band, Cloud Castle Lake.
