This class is a 12 week course for those interested in learning how to dance LA style salsa, also known as crossbody salsa on1.

This is one of the most common forms of Salsa dancing and this course follows a 12 week program to ensure clear progression. At the end of the course students will know the basic turn combinations and be able to dance at social events with ease. The course follows the course structure designed by Fernando Sosa of the sosa academy in Milan, Italy as well as some tips from other teachers taken along the way.

Salsa music is a popular dance music genre that initially arose in New York City during the 1960s. Salsa is the product of various musical genres including the Cuban son montuno, guaracha, cha cha chá, mambo, and to a certain extent bolero, and the Puerto Rican bomba and plena. Latin jazz, which was also developed in New York City, has had a significant influence on salsa arrangers, piano guajeos, and instrumental soloists.

About the teacher:

Alex is originally from Curacao an island located in the Dutch Caribbean and has been dancing salsa for over 9 years. He learnt Salsa in his home island and has since then taught and danced in the Netherlands, Germany, the UK and Ireland. He often travels to multiple Salsa Festivals worldwide and follows the teaching curriculum of Fernando Sosa of the Sosa Academy in Milan.

His puts a strong focus on technique and takes a structured approach to teaching the beautiful dance but manages to also create an fun environment.
