Fasttrack your dance progress. Reduce injury & recovery periods. Multiply the power of your dance practice by understanding YOUR individual body mechanics in this specialised Pilates class.

Do you feel like you’re hanging by a thread in your balances? Regularly falling out of your turns? Is half your brain space spent fighting that burn in your muscles rather than focusing on the dance technique and movement itself?

The solution to these problems are found on the mat, not on your feet.

This specialised Pilates class will get you down onto the mat, varying the directions of resistance and gravity, allowing us to get into your deep core muscles more fully & effectively than during technical dance classes. You will learn to identify the weak links in your mechanics that are keeping you stuck in your physical performance; whether it’s a matter of core strength, mobility, alignment, or anatomy. It’s in this targeted space we can make a plan for getting you to the progress you want.
Small class sizes allow for tailored class programs specific to your needs and goals.

Both hobbyist and professional dancers are welcome.

Multiply the power of your dance practice by understanding YOUR individual body mechanics in this specialised Pilates class for dancers.

My name is Tara Lonij and I’m an expert Pilates mat instructor (EQF 4, National Training Centre). My focus is both dancers and general population beginners’ Pilates, which mutually aids in teaching adult dance classes. I maintain an ethos of warmth and inclusion in the classroom making it my personal mission to expand society’s perception of who can participate in Pilates and dance.

Like many Pilates teachers, I was a lifelong dancer facing repeated injuries and daily pain. I refused to accept that dancers simply have to live like that. They don’t. I learned Pilates conditioning fills in the gaps of classical dance training and I haven’t looked back since. I’ve seen first hand Pilates reduce injuries and boosts athletic performance in dancers; as well as reduce chronic pain and restore optimum posture alignment in the general population.

Other qualifications include:

M.Sc. of Applied Health Psychology, Trinity College: I integrate the most useful and relevant health psychology knowledge into my lesson curriculums.

B.A., pre-medicine, Women and Gender studies, Arizona State University: Years of university science and anatomy means I pass on the most useful of exercise science to you, my student.
