Join Glasgow-based dancer Jack Anderson for an open practice session where we will begin unraveling some of the boundaries, hierarchies and tensions between Irish dance and contemporary dance. In a friendly and non-pressurised space, we’ll try some guided improvisations and choreographic experiments - mixing and manipulating the mechanics, textures and dynamics of Irish and contemporary dance vocabularies. This is not about ‘fusion’, but about questioning whether these categorisations of movement are always useful, how they can make space for different bodies, why we do them and what they can express.

The session is a place for people to get together and enjoy moving with curiosity and solidarity. Most suitable for confident movers with experience in Irish dance, contemporary dance, or both; but everybody is welcome - come as you are.
