Róisín Whelan is a recepient of a National Residency with Dance Ireland. Join us online for a work in progress showing of her new piece 'Táim Caillte'.

Táim Caillte is an exploration into the themes of hope and despair with particular attention to mental health, especially within young men between 18 and 26. Roisin will be working with three dancers; Henry Ward, Matilda Maginnis and Joshua Scott, alongside musician Aoife Kavanagh. The group are delving into this topic, to research and uncover ways that we can talk about the problem through movement and performance; to set out on a path to unshroud the mystery and fear behind the topic of suicide and to open up the conversation locally regarding this poignant issue. Over this period of time of research and development, the aim is to produce a work that will hopefully raise awareness and understanding about an issue that has plagued so many hearts for far too long.

This project is supported by Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, Shawbrook, Dance Ireland and Carlow Arts Council.
