Dancing As If Trying Not To Own The Earth: a workshop for those interested in practising art whilist minimising harm to the planet.

For a while I (Rita Marcalo) have been practising a new way of dancing: Dancing As If Trying Not to Own the Earth. I am still training in it (not at all fully competent yet), but I am ready to share it with you!

What do you know about the climate emergency?

How are you responding to what you know both personally, and as an artist, producer, programmer, educator, funder?

What could be the role of dance and art in imagining (and bringing into being) a different world… A world that does not ‘own the Earth’?

I am inviting artists, producers, programmers, company directors, Higher Education leaders, and funders to join me for half a day for an exploration on these issues. The idea is to share with you this new 'dance’ that I am practising and then, if you like it, leave you to practice it, grow it, and develop it in any way you wish, as a localised artist community.
