‘Dancing into parenthood’- Fri 16th June at 12.30pm
This forum is an opportunity to come together, reflect and share experiences of pregnancy and the first stages of parenting in dance. It is a gathering for all who are curious about becoming a parent, those who are parents already of young children and those who identify as parents.
This forum is offered in two ways; online and in-person at Dance House. People can choose to attend either in-person or online. There will be an opportunity to connect both groups.
Laura Murphy will host the in-person meeting at Dance House and Lisa Cliffe will host online.
To register your attendance, please enrol via Mindbody below (if you wish to attend in person, please email Andrea to let us know you will be coming in- andrea.bolger@danceireland.ie)
A note from Lisa Cliffe:
“I have proposed this forum topic as a response to my personal need to nurture connections and conversations around becoming a mother and working in dance. I became a parent for the first time in November 2022. I invited Laura to co-host this forum with me. She has been a confidante and friend along my journey to becoming a parent. Laura is a parent to a five year old. The intention of the forum is to hold space for all who are thinking about pregnancy and parenting and to consider the riches and challenges of the embodied experiences of our dance community. This forum is a shared space to hold all who mother, father and identify as parents and those who ponder the value and place of parenting in our dance eco-system.”
Children and feeding, background noise and mess are all welcome!

About Members' Forum:
Members’ Forum is a new Dance Ireland initiative to support our Members to lead a conversation on a topic of their choice with the professional dance community.
Advocacy is a key strategic priority for Dance Ireland, and central to this is ensuring that there is space for the community to gather and the voices of our Members to be heard. The Members’ Forums will provide this space for collective reflection, discussion, and action from within the sector.
