Lighting Design for Dance Residency: Niamh O’Loughlin

Mon 19 Apr 2021 - Fri 7 May 2021
10:00 - 18:00

The Lighting Design for Dance is a professional development partnership between Liz Roche Company, The Lir Academy and Dance Ireland,  and The Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at University of Limerick as project partner. Working with the MFA's in Lighting Design from the Lir, the postgraduate students from the MA in Contemporary Dance Performance will now take part in the project developing their choreographies alongside choreographer/dancers Nick Nikolaou and Niamh O'Loughlin. Over the course of the project all participants can access high quality mentoring, resourced studio and theatre spaces, technical support, advice and feedback and the opportunity to make new connections within the arts community.

This professional development opportunity is for choreographers interested in working collaboratively with lighting design. The aim is to offer a supportive and resourced environment to learn about and experiment with lighting design for dance productions.

Niamh graduated from the Scottish School of Contemporary dance in May 2018. Since then she has taught with Scottish Dance Theatre, CityMoves, The Space, Shaper/Caper and Byre Youth and Community arts, designing classes for all ages and levels with a focus on fun and creativity. Niamh is a qualified Inclusive Dance Teacher.
