About The Class:
Irish Dancing for Adults - come dance with us this Winter! Made popular by stage shows like Riverdance and Lord of the Dance, Irish Dancing is energetic, enjoyable, challenging, and loads of fun. Classes with Irish Dance Dublin are designed for adults of all skills levels, from Beginners to Intermediate. In our classes, you will learn Irish dancing technique, as well as steps and routines.
We do both light and heavy dancing, but the main focus of our Wednesday classes is in the heavy shoes. We recommend that participants wear Irish dancing hard shoes or tap shoes in order to get the full benefit from the classes.
Please note: street shoes are not allowed inside the Dance Ireland studios. Pre-booking is essential at www.irishdancedublin.com
About The Teachers:
Mary Beth Taylor
Mary Beth Taylor is the Director of Irish Dance Dublin. She is a Sean-Nós dancing teacher and a registered Irish dancing teacher (TCRG) with An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha. The child of an Irish mother (Phil from Galway) and an American father (Bob from Idaho), Mary Beth grew up in Marietta, Georgia. Now married to a Dubliner (Richard from Glasnevin), she has been living and dancing in Ireland since 2002.
A dancer and educator with more than 25 years of experience, Mary Beth has enjoyed many different opportunities as a performer, tutor, and choreographer. Along with running weekly classes in Dublin, she has danced all over the world, having taught and performed throughout Ireland, the USA, Canada, Western Europe, Cyprus, Albania, Mexico, New Zealand, and Oman. She is passionate about reading, traveling, and traditional culture, and loves helping others stay active and engaged in their hobbies throughout all stages of life.
Delany Copola
Delaney Coppola: A dancer with nearly 20 years of experience, Delaney first began her journey with the Culkin School of Traditional Irish Dance in Maryland, USA. There, she competed nationally and internationally as both a soloist and céilí team member, performed throughout the Washington DC area, and taught students of varying ages and skill levels. While living in Philadelphia during her university years, Delaney founded an Irish Dance Team for collegiate students, choreographing and teaching routines for national competitions, collegiate sport half-time shows, and cultural arts showcases.
After moving to Cork for a short while, Delaney settled in Dublin a few years ago and is excited to continue her artistic and teaching journey with Irish Dance Dublin.
Satira Bakirova
Sitara Bakirova: Having begun Irish dancing lessons at the age of 12 in her native Kazakhstan, Sitara later joined "Altyn Batyr," the country's first Irish dancing company. At age 19, Sitara became a full-time member and instructor at the company, dancing at major events, which included a performance for the former president of Kazakhstan. Upon moving to Bulgaria in adulthood, Sitara joined the Tanya Cunningham Academy, where she continued teaching and performing, including engagements at arts festivals, TV and radio work, and performances with the Embassy of Ireland in Sofia.
Sitara later moved to Dublin, where she has continued training and teaching with Irish Dance Dublin. Sitara has learned from many luminaries of the Irish dancing world, including workshops taught by Colin Dunne, Jean Butler, Shane McAvinchey, and Breandán de Gallaí, and has performed with acclaimed Irish dance company Fusion Fighters.
