Our Healthier Dancer Days this year invite you to take some time out to tune in to the needs of the dancing body and mind.  The programme is dedicated to the unique and unprecedented challenges for dancers at this time with in depth sessions on yoga for dancers, somatics in action, mindful practice, supplementary training and conditioning, and advocating for your needs. The workshops offer information and techniques to take into your training and practice and support you to navigate the months ahead.

Mobilizing the Wisdom Body

As modern science begins to understand and confirm ancient traditions, we are continuously gifted with the wisdom of present meeting past; and at an unprecedented time in history when the need for integration of the self through time and space could not be more essential. 

Anya will briefly touch upon the current science of CO2 tolerance, the vagus nerve, joint mobility/health, and the biomechanics of gait in relation to the health of the whole system, as well as some of their direct correlations within yoga and meditation approaches. Using this as a framework, she will guide participants into practices that enlighten and clarify every layer of being, awakening and integrating the wisdom within.

While this workshop takes place over Zoom, the majority of the work will be able to be done away from the screen. Please have a thick towel or blanket, a dish or face towel, and a wall available. Any other tools you like to use for yoga, strength, or mobility work (including resistance bands or small weights) are welcome.


Anya Porter has spent over two decades studying human well-being primarily through the lenses of yoga, dance, meditation, and biomechanics. She is ardently committed to the health of the human spirit through intersectional, integrative practices that address our personal, interpersonal and collective experiences.

She currently teaches and works individually with clients in NYC and at her own independent wellness studio, recenterspace, in the Lower Hudson Valley.
