Dancer from the Dance Festival of Irish Choreography is a gathering of Irish and Irish-identifying choreographers transcends across dance practice, gender, ethnicity, age, and ability in Irish dance and contemporary Irish identity. Curated by John Scott, artistic director of Irish Modern Dance Theatre
We in Dance Ireland are delighted to partner with Irish Modern Dance Theatre on this year's Dancer from the Dance Festival for the fourth consecutive year. Supporting the Festival's classes and workshops increases the artistic development opportunities, connections and engagement points for dancers in Ireland with renowned dance artists from home and abroad. All this contributes to development of the art from and progression.
Gearóid’s class will have different techniques and classical styles incorporated within.
It will focus on the use of breath, musicality, and presentation, while aiming to challenge all dancers technically.
The class will follow traditional structure. Beginning with barre, it will progress into centre practice and jumps, ending with a cool down stretch
Gearóid was born in Dublin and began training with the Irish National Youth Ballet under the late Katherine Lewis at age 10. He continued his studies with Grainne McArdle before joining the Royal Ballet School.
After two seasons working with Ballet Zürich, he joined Boston Ballet in 2020.
