DI Residency: Laura Murphy

Supported by an Arts Council Bursary Award, Laura Murphy will be in residence at DanceHouse commencing her research into the impulse(s) behind her dance. Working with mentor Joan Davis and Authentic Movement (AM), Laura is considering how our 'dances' live inside and outside of 'the dance arena'.

Laura Murphy is a choreographer, performer and teacher based in Ireland. She creates dance work that celebrates the beauty in ordinary things and exalts the mundane. Her work includes solo and ensemble pieces, large scale and socially engaged dance, as well as dance films, video installations and site-specific performances.
Laura has presented her work internationally at festivals and galleries such as Reykjavik Dance Festival (IS), Edinburgh Fringe (UK), Judson Church (US), the Museum of Contemporary Art, Bucharest (RO), NN Contemporary Northampton (UK), Dublin Dance Festival and Cork Midsummer Festival (IRL).
Laura has worked with artists including Colin Dunne, Rob Heaslip, Gemma Riggs, Rhona Byrne, Mary Nunan, Nigel Rolfe, Matteo Fargion, Irene Buckley and Michael Gallen.
