Jade O'Connor is the receipient of a DI residency in 2023.

Jade will research, interrogate and expand on an original existing piece of text called ‘Flat as a pancake’ as the stimulus for the project using a multidisciplinary and contemporary dance approach.

'Flat as a pancake' explores discomfort in the body from embarrassment and shame to tension and discomfort and the holding of that throughout your life in patterns and behaviours that are sometimes life saving; but can also be devastating.

Jade is an award winning performer & theatre maker. She works across various platforms including: tv, film, theatre and music. After graduating on a scholarship from Millennium Performing Arts, London she began working and collaborating with various directors, artists and theatre companies. Jade is a multidisciplinary artist working with her many skills as an actor, singer, dancer, aerialist and writer.

In 2021 she made her cinema debut in film ‘Joyride’ starring Olivia Coleman - Directed by Emer Reynolds. Jade is currently playing ‘Gunn’ in Season 2 & 3 of Netflix / MGM Show - Valhalla.

Jade is also lead vocalist and collaborator of ‘A Call To You’ by Catherine Young which premiered at the Dublin Dance festival 22’.

Most recently she co-created & performed a short film with her company FemmeBizarre supported by The Arts Council of Ireland ‘Bringing Home The Bacon’- Directed by Gavin Fitzgerald with DOP Colm Hogan which will premiere at Fastnet Film Festival 2022.
