About James Greenan's Residency Plans
James has been deeply immersed in deconstructing the form of Irish Dance within his own body, seeking a deeper understanding of how he moves within this tradition. Over the course of the residency week, James plans to further explore and expand his relationship with Irish dance, moving beyond its traditional boundaries and into a more contemporary space. This exploration will involve experimenting with various percussive elements, incorporating new technologies, and redening the sensory experience of movement in the art form. In summary, this residency will be pivotal in James's ongoing artistic development. It will provide the space, tools, and environment necessary for him to push his practice into new, unexplored territory, allowing him to create a more nuanced, multidimensional approach to Irish dance that blends the traditional with the contemporary. This will not only inform his current work but also shape the direction of his future projects, helping him to establish a more innovative, forward-thinking practice.
