About the Class
This Dancehall Dance class invites people to this authentic, vibrant and energetic culture originated in Kingston, Jamaica. Throughout the term, we will explore Dancehall moves, steps, foundations, choreographies and grooves. This class welcomes all-level dancers, inviting participants not only to develop new skills and techniques, but to experience and celebrate the beautiful and diverse Dancehall culture.

What to Expect:

  • Deep-Dive: Explore the different eras and genres in Dancehall dance, such as Old School, Middle School, New School, Badman and Dancehall Queen, and other cultural aspects.
  • Supportive Community: Learn in a supportive and welcoming environment with a warm and diverse community.
  • Exploration and Growth: Through Dancehall, our sessions encourage participants to delve into the elements of dance, including musicality, textures, performance skills, creativity and collaborative work.

About Vithória
Vithoria is a Brazilian multidisciplinary and socially engaged artist and a professional member of Dance Ireland and Create Ireland. She have worked across several contexts in dance, such as live performances, commercials, music videos and also creating choreographies and leading classes and workshops. Under the international brand Kwetu Movement, she provides dance classes, events and workshops to celebrate and raise awareness on diasporic styles. Vithoria is also the Co-Founder of the dance company Umakoko, where she co-created, co-produced and co-choreographed two editions of the community-led dance show Wave, aimed to showcase the diversity and talent of multicultural dancers in Ireland.
