Oran is the recipient of a Dance Ireland Residency.

With this Dance Ireland residency, "Let me tell you a tale about me. It might be closer to your story than you think." Dance artist Oran Leong will spend his Residency developing his solo multidisciplinary practice. By tapping into both his diverse movement range and the power of spoken word, he will explore how multiple modes of communication can convey a story, particularly since dance is always interpretative.

He will reflect on biography to draw from personal experience as raw matter and hopes to generate material for future dissemination.

Read more about Oran...

A multidisciplinary dance artist in the genres of traditional Irish, contemporary and aerial dance, Oran creates in the fields of theatre, abstract and spectacle performance under Oran Leong Dance and for other companies - both at home and overseas. Oran proudly acknowledges his movement as homegrown - being one of the few Irish-born dancers to have never studied abroad. A three-times Irish dance World Champion, he is an alumnus of Dublin Youth Dance Company and holds an MA in Contemporary Dance Performance from the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance.

He has been an Associate Artist of Fidget Feet Aerial Dance Theatre since 2022. In 2023, he was Dance Artist-In-Residence at Ballina Arts Centre, Co. Mayo. This year, Oran became an Associate Artist of Croí Glan Integrated Dance Company and is currently working with Ceol Connected as a singer and sensory performing artist. In his own work, Oran is becoming increasingly interested in storytelling and how movement, as well as his skills in music and the Irish language, can convey a message.

He values collaboration, authenticity and having the absolute ‘craic’ through an artform that brings him, and hopefully others, joy.
