- Sarah Ryan
Sarah’s class focuses on visiting contemporary technique to find the joy and revelry of movement. The class begins with centering and grounding the body through breath work, somatic movement and articulation. As the class progresses juicy curves, dynamic twists and buoyant leaps will all cater to finding length, strength and freedom in embodied and vibrant movement. Cunningham and Release are the grounding techniques of the combinations with Sarah’s own style and experience weaving through.
Please see below for our Covid-19 in studio protocols.
Sarah Ryan is a dance artist based in Dublin. Her dance training began at the age of 13 leading up to formal training graduating from The College of Dance and the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance. She then moved to France where she danced with numerous companies in both dance and theatre.
Since returning to Ireland Sarah has become a stable and multifaceted freelance dance artist in the dance sector. She has worked with a wide range of choreographers, directors and companies from different artistic backgrounds; these include Irish Modern Dance Theatre, Philip Connaughton, Liz Roche, Áine Stapleton, Laura Murphy, Opera Theatre Company, Ponydance, John O’Brien, Jessie Keenan, Croí Glan, Mary Wycherley, Cie Willie Dorner, amongst others. These works have been included in the Dublin Dance Festival, Dublin Fringe Festival, Cork Midsummers Festival, as well as national and international tours.
She has also worked as an assistant for numerous choreographers on the creation and development of new work including work for the Abbey Theatre, as well as exploring collaboration with different artists for the creation of interdisciplinary immersive performances.
Please note the following measures have been put in place for the well being of all who use DanceHouse.
Collectively, we will find a new rhythm for interacting while ensuring we follow best practice in keeping ourselves and others safe as we move in the studio space.
- Changing rooms and showers are open, with a limited capacity of 5 people permitted in the area at a time. Shower area capacity is limited to 3 people at a time.
While changing rooms and showers are available for use by those who need them, we do encourage everyone to arrive in the clothes needed for practice, whenever possible.
- Each group or class entering DanceHouse has a specific time to do so, 15 minutes before their class starts.
This is done to minimise crossover between groups entering and leaving, keep the flow in the building and to prevent clusters of people in the foyer and stairs.
Unfortunately, you cannot come earlier than above to keep the number of people at the safest level.
All participants must leave the studio promptly after class – time for cool down will be part of the class and there will not be additional time in the studio after class for this.
These times are scheduled to limit the crossover of people entering and leaving.
