An Irish dance with a spinal twist, a contemporary phrase with a sidestep. Learn an exciting new approach to bring two very different genres together. Develop greater flexibility, strength, speed and body coordination in this embodied and energetic class.
What you'll experience: An integrated warm-up with technical drills will lead on to longer passages. The movement draws from the steps and rhythms of Irish dance, combined with contemporary dance practice to avail of the whole body incorporating the pelvis, spine, arms, neck and head. Participants are encouraged to go at their own pace as the sequences get progressively more physical.
What to wear: Comfortable clothing (e.g. sportswear) is essential. No shoes necessary.
Level: This is an open level class and ideal for Irish dancers who are looking for a different, yet familiar, way of moving. While a foundation in a movement style is beneficial, it is suitable for both enthusiastic beginners and for those with some experience in Irish and / or contemporary dance. (The YouTube video is an insight to the type of movement. The class material, however, will be delivered to meet the common level of the participants.)
