Deirdre will lead with a gentle warm up using both improvisational and structured exercises.
The class will increase in vigour energising the whole body.
Lending from a range of contemporary dance techniques, hand balance, basic acrobatics and physical/ performative states to express inner rhythms and practice authentic movement vocabulary.

The class will culminate in a choreographic phrase that encopmpases the workings of the class. An hour and half of sassy tunes and good craic vibes!

ABOUT Deirdre

Deirdre Griffin is a dance artist and choreographer working across Contemporary dance physical, theatre and contemporary circus.

Deirdre trained at Inchicore College of Dance, the Duncan Conservatory Prague and has a BA in Dance Theatre from Fonty's Dance Academy, Tilburg.

Deirdre established her performance company Headonbody to create works characterised by wild absurdity and high physicality.

Her show SOUP premiered at Dublin Fringe Festival 2019, was nominated for Best Performer and the Radical Spirit Award, and will tour this Autumn 2022. Deirdre has created a number of short works including Pantastic!! The Queer Quartet, Bicycle, Beans That Jelly, and The Application with Gina Moxley.

Deirdre has toured extensively with ponydance theatre and has performed with Junk Ensemble, Brokentalkers, Katja Heitman (Germany), T.R.A.S.H. (Netherlands), Theatre Lovett, Milla Virtanen (Finland), and in hit show RIOT by THISISPOPBABY (Australian Tour 2018). She regularly performs and choreographs for award-winning modern circus company Loosysmokes.

She has also choreographed for comedy duo LORDS OF STRUT.

Deirdre collaborates with Cian Austin Jesus on Ping Pong Disco and Paradise Cabaret, choreographing and performing with the Ping Pong Girls, as well as street shows GROW and SWARM with Cian Kinsella and Breda Larkin. Deirdre collaborated with street artist Aches to choreograph the opening moment for Dublin Parade 2022. On screen she has worked on Penny Dreadful, Republic of Telly and Dublin Old School.
