Class description

Reflecting Shaun’s experience in classical ballet, contemporary dance, and somatic practices, this ballet class emphasizes full-bodied dancing and artistic expression while being rooted in a technical understanding of alignment and movement efficiency. The class transitions from barre to centre work, blending traditional styles of ballet with a contemporary approach to movement. Inspired by influential ballet teacher, Yoko Ichino, the class promotes a holistic understanding of ballet technique whereby the individual needs and abilities of the dancer are supported. Exercises build in complexity, providing opportunities for dancers to move expansively through space and play with musicality whilst being challenged technically. Students can expect a safe and supportive environment that celebrates our collective joy of dance through the form of ballet.
