Class will begin with a full technical ballet barre to warm up and work on: strengthening the body; coordination; stretching; flow and expression. In the centre work dancers will be guided through a series of exercises and enchainments including adagio; battement tendu; pirouettes; petit and grand allegro culminating in sequences of jumping, turning and dancing with vigour and confidence before a final cool down and stretch.

Artists Bio

Muirne Bloomer is a freelance dance professional with over 30 years’ experience in ballet, modern dance, theatre; opera; children’s dance theatre; spectacle and community arts. She has had an extensive performance career in ballet, contemporary and dance theatre both at home and abroad, working with Dublin City Ballet, Vienna Ballet Theatre, Rubato Ballet, Dance Theatre of Ireland, Holland Show Ballet, Irish Modern Dance Theatre and CoisCéim Dance Theatre. Muirne teaches contemporary and ballet at professional level and also at second and third level teaching movement and dance to students at the Lir Academy and Bow Street Screen Academy. Between 2000 and 2012 Muirne was Associate Choreographer and Rehearsal Director with CoisCéim Dance Theatre. In recent years she has choreographed many Irish National Opera productions, most recently Puccini’s La Boheme; Donizetti’s Don Pasquale; Brian Irvine’s Least Like the Other; Bizet's Carmen and Rossini’s La Cenerentola. Other choreographic work includes Sandpaper on Sunburn; Quake (Dublin Theatre Festival); Hamlet (St Anne’s Warehouse NYC, Gate Theatre), Look Back in Anger, The Great Gatsby, Private Lives, Little Women, Arcadia and Dancing at Lughnasa (Gate Theatre); Donegal, You Never Can Tell, She Stoops to Conquer, A Doll’s House, Cavalcaders, Drama at Inis and The Tempest (Abbey Theatre); Dandy Dolls and Gulliver’s Travels (Peacock Theatre),Verdi’s Rigoletto (Opera Theatre Company) Egg (Lincoln Centre, New York); Nivelli’s War (New Victory Theatre New York); The World festival of Families (Croke Park, 2018) and Laochra (GAA 1916 Commemoration, Croke Park. Between 2021-2024 Muirne was Artistic Coordinator of Creative Places Darndale and is currently Performance Director of St Patricks Festival Community Arts.
