This ballet class, which is based in the Vaganova method is geared to help dancers maintain and further their technique, strengthen their bodies, work on their musicality, stamina and speed; while deepening their own understanding of their personal artistry. Though this class will strongly focus on the Vaganova style and syllabus, many moments will take speed and specificities in other styles in an engaged and fun manner.
Artist Bio
Jack Furlong Jr. spent the majority of his career with the famed Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo. He had the pleasure of touring internationally at some of the most prestigious dance theatres/venues in the world; including, Sadler’s Wells, The Kennedy Center, The State Hermitage Museum, Tokyo Bunka Center, Maison de la Danse, The Joyce Theatre, and countless opera houses and theatres worldwide. In 2021, he was featured in the PBS: American Masters, documentary, “Ballerina Boys.”
Furlong trained in the Vaganova method with international Principal, Valentina Kozlova, of the Bolshoi and NYCB. Additionally, he was coached by Olga and Vitaly Verterich (Beryozka, Riverdance), and the great master, the ‘Ambassador of Dance’ for the UK, Jelko Yuresha.
He has performed with companies such as The Gelsey Kirkland Ballet, The Merce Cunningham Trust and performed the works of many past and present choroegraphers, such as Cunningham, Morris, etc.
Furlong was the coordinator for VKIBC, producing several years of ballet competitions internationally. He is the co-owner of the company, Emma Rose Floristry and teaches ballet throughout the Dublin area.
