Laura's class will warm you up for the day and maximise your strength of movement. Focus on improving alignment, extension, strength, flexibility, style and full body coordination. This class uses interesting combinations and dance phrases while concentrating on musicality and timing.

Laura Macken trained at The Irish National College of Dance and joined Dublin City Ballet as a student member at the age of 15.  Dancing with the company for several years Laura danced corps de ballet and solo roles in ballets such as Coppelia, The Nutcracker, Les Sylphides, Pas de Quatre, and Gisele.   She also worked with Dance Theatre of Ireland, CoisCéim Dance Theatre (touring in Ireland and the UK), Co-Motion Theatre, and many other musical theatre productions in the Gaiety, Tivoli, and Olympia Theatres.  Other theatre credits include The Secret Fall of Constant Wilde, at The Abbey Theatre, The Barbican Centre in London, and the Melbourne Theatre Festival, and more recently, The Dead also at the Abbey Theatre.

DanceHouse Protocols

Please note the following measures have been put in place for the well being of all who use DanceHouse.
Collectively, we will find a new rhythm for interacting while ensuring we follow best practice in keeping ourselves and others safe as we move in the studio space.

  • Please come changed for class as changing rooms and showers are closed. (Toilet rooms are open.)

  • Each group or class entering DanceHouse has a specific time to do so.
Morning Class participants can enter the building between 9.45am and 10am only. Classes will start at 10am sharp.
This is done to minimise crossover between groups entering and leaving, keep the flow in the building and to prevent clusters of people in the foyer and stairs.
Unfortunately, you cannot come earlier than above to keep the number of people at the safest level.
All participants must leave the studio promptly at 11.30am – time for cool down will be part of the class and there will not be additional time in the studio after class for this.
These times are scheduled to limit the crossover of people entering and leaving.

  • Please read the full protocols HERE
