Collaborative Kildare-based dance artist with over two decades working with diverse groups in the community developing Dance for Health practice. In a move away from creating written work (supported by the Arts Council Bursary Award 2021) Claffey's practice centres on improvisation, nature and the use of scored work. Recent work includes intergenerational dance project at Acre Project, Celbridge as the inaugural recipient of the Artist in Residence programme, Kildare Arts Service, Kildare County Council (2022-2023). Dance Artist, Essence programme, Garden as Gallery by Joan Davis, Gorse Hill (2023 & 2024) and Dance Bualadh Bos, a duet created and performed with older communities throughout Kildare (Creative Ireland Bursary Award 2022). With a keen interest in agency in performance and the natural world, Claffey explores subtle meeting points, consciousness and presence within an embodiment sensory practice.
