Moving Forward Together

Whether online or in studio, in 2021, we will continue our commitment to ongoing professional development for dance artists through daily professional class, workshops and masterclasses, mentorship, artist’s advice sessions, residencies and Member’s studio.

We will create space to innovate and advance the artform through our digital and dramaturgy programmes; exploring process and the ecology of dance in Ireland; and bringing artist and technologists together to play and experiment.

This year we will work with a Digital Producer in the second quarter of the year. With the need to move activity online, we recognise that there is a need to build knowledge, skills, and experience in the dance community to fully embrace the potential for technology as a means of both transmission and artistic expression in our art form. There are exciting developments and great opportunities in dance and digital praxis internationally, and fertile ground for growth in this area in Ireland.

The challenge of making work is ongoing, but as we evolve our Producing programme, we will look at ways to adapt and resource the ambitions of artists. Through partnership and collaboration, we look forward to providing opportunities to focus on different areas of practice, showcase Irish work and provide opportunities for international exchange, whether live or online.

The Outside the Studio programme will be there to provide career supports around the business of dance, including tax, financial planning, governance, funding and communications.

We will continue to support artists to advance their interests and the art form in the wider culture; and strengthen the sector through advocacy, consultation and collective action.
