Liz Roche Company
Liz Roche Company has been presenting evocative and compelling contemporary dance on Irish and International stages for over 20 years
Unanimously appreciated for its physicality, poetic strength and intuitive collaborations with other art-forms, the company is a leading light in the development of contemporary dance in Ireland. In the last five years the company has been commissioned to make work by Dublin Dance Festival, The Abbey Theatre, Goethe-Institut, The National Gallery of Ireland and Kilkenny Arts Festival, and is currently Company-in-Residence at the Irish World Academy, UL. The work itself explores themes of shared memory, image, embodiment, migration, politics and family, connecting itself to poetry, visual art and literature as sources of inspiration.
Supported by the Arts Council, Dublin City Council and also by Culture Ireland, the company has performed internationally at the Baryshnikov Arts Centre and Judson Memorial Church, New York, Brisbane Powerhouse and Dance Bites Festival Sydney, Australia, The South Bank Centre London, The Irish Arts Festival Beijing, China and performed widely in Europe.
The company was co-founded in 1999 by sisters Liz Roche and Jenny Roche and is under the artistic direction of choreographer Liz Roche. The company supports associate dance artists to develop their skills and make new work. They have been Katherine O'Malley 2011 - 18 and Lucia Kickham 2018/20.
