James Berkery is an innovative and creative choreographer and movement director of BAFTA-nominated and other award-winning projects in film, TV, advertisements, music, and theatre.
Originally from Co. Tipperary, Ireland, James is now based in London where he specialises in commercial and narrative choreography, movement direction and 1-1 movement coaching.
Clients including IKEA, SONO, BFI, Film4, Ffilm Cymru, Universal Music, Warner Music UK and Polydor Records.
Work has been featured on BBC, CBS, ABC, ITV, MTV, VICE, TikTok, Paper Mag and VOGUE Italia.
James Berkery’s combined music video work online has over 10 million views online, recent projects includes choreographing The Fratellis comeback Global Top 5 Album ‘In Your Own Sweet Time’ and resident choreography on Sting’s USA tour of ‘The Last Ship’ (2020).
James was the choreographer of ‘toni_with_an_i’(BFI/BBC) which received BAFTA Nomination in 2020.
At 16 James Berkery was the youngest student to train at CSN Dance, Ireland; leading to an invitation to Open Ballet 2011 in St. Petersburg, Russia.After being awarded a DADA scholarship he attended Bird College Conservatoire of Dance and Musical Theatre. He then attained BA (1st class hons) focusing on the choreographic process from Middlesex University.
Dedicated to producing inclusive and creative work, James also heads up his own company JAMESTOWN Studios, a collective digital agency and production house based in Kings Cross St. Pancras, London.
James is a member of One Dance UK, Movement Directors Association, Dance Ireland, Equity UK, AEA and Dancer's Career Development (ambassador).
