Charlotte O’Reilly
Professional

With the Royal Academy of Dance, Dublin Charlotte received a Distinction up to Grade 5 in Ballet, Modern Dance and Jazz (2005-2012). She moved to Paris in 2019 to attend the École Internationale de Theatre Jacques Lecoq where she was a student on the professional full-time programme for movement and creation practices (Oct 2019 - July 2021), a masters equivalent qualification. Thereafter, she devised and performed in 'Danse Création' run by Sylvie Tiratay, which involved weekly classes for a year during which they devised an hour long dance piece as a 15 person ensemble for performance at Les Plateaux Sauvages, Pairs (Sept 2021 – June 2022).

Simultaneously to Danse Création, she worked with the franco-Italian dance-theatre company Magano Massip who hosted what they termed the Choeur Battant which was an in-depth exploration into the different forms that a chorus ensemble can take. Made up of a group of 30 dancers that improvised together, sometimes using materials like ropes or sheets of plastic, other times using only their bodies to create images and dynamics, she loved the work and found it so interesting. (Jan-June 2022).

She also attended Night Classes at the circus school Les Noctambules near Paris in acrobatics to keep up her acro training after Lecoq. She attended these drop in classes whenever she could (October 2021-June 2022)

As part of her Agility Award for the Arts Council from April 2022, she attended Choreolab Europe in October of 2022 which is an international and collaborative artistic research platform for professional dancers and choreographers where specific ideas on creation for movement performance are researched in a peer-to-peer setting. (The Lab, Dublin Oct 2022, in association with Dance Ireland).

As a dance/theatre maker, she co-founded Minikin Theatre with Pénélope Hervouet. Under this company she developed her first work 'Three Things That Are Never Seen', a dance and storytelling piece inspired by Irish mythology, which was initially developed with the support of The Arts Council of Ireland and had a sold-out work-in-progress showing at Scene + Heard 2023.

From there the show went on to be part of the Autumn Season of The Space Theatre in London, receiving 4.5 stars from London Pubs Theatre and 4 stars from Fringe Biscuit. She most recently attended a 'Dance Intensive and Creative Practices' workshop with Michael Keegan Dolan at The MAC, Belfast and continues her dance training with weekly classes at Dance Ireland.
