In 2010, Dance Ireland published DANCE COUNTS 2008, the results of the first ever survey of the professional dance sector in Ireland, which signalled our commitment to longitudinal research in dance in support of sector development. Since then, the data and knowledge gathered through Dance Counts research has supported strategy and policy development, increasing awareness and understanding of the lived experiences of artists working in dance on the island of Ireland.
Building on this legacy, Dance Counts: Moving Forward Together is the umbrella under which Dance Ireland continues to undertake research, and share outcomes and resources for the benefit of everyone working in dance and the wider arts and cultural sector, including benefactors, policy makers and academics.
This online resource shares the data and reports starting from 2020 (Dance Think Tanks Report) to present (Dance Counts Report 2022), and will be regularly updated with relevant research and resources to support advocacy for the sector.
