DANCE THEATRE OF IRELAND

HEART OF THE MATTER NOV 30

Taking inspiration from Carl Sagan’s “The Pale Blue Dot”, their new work, directed by DTI Artistic Directors Robert Connor & Loretta Yurick, will explore Nature, perspective, climate change, from the life experiences of the members. The new work acknowledges we are made of “star stuff” and –looking at our Planet, and the current states of affairs on Earth—asks us what is important? what is perspective? what is our legacy?

VINTAGE YOUTH is Dance Theatre of Ireland’s Senior performance ensemble, a group of older adults who came together as an outgrowth of DTI’s Well-Dance for Seniors modern dance classes. Since 2015 they have created and performed many original dance works in theatres and for many public events and Festival.

Winterval presents Trash Test Dummies

Fri 15th Nov - Sun 22nd Dec

Winners of the best children’s presentation at the Adelaide Fringe Festival 2015 and 2016, and runners up for Children’s Choice Award Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2016, the Trash Test Dummies are as full of laughs as their bins are full of surprises. This “delightfully intelligent, highly entertaining” (Herald Sun) family adventure takes the humble household wheelie bin to new heights.

Everyone put your bins out, tonight’s bin night and the Trash Test Dummies are on duty. With side-splitting slapstick comedy, daring acrobatics and dexterous juggling these Dummies are off on an imaginative adventure that is anything but garbage. With ballet and balloons thrown in for good measure, this fast-paced hour of “adept unadulterated mischief” (The Times) delivers a dump truck full of hilarity!

WAVE - Back To Basics wants the Irish creative scene to rediscover their love for dance

UMAKOKO returns with the third year of WAVE, a one-of-a-kind dance show that will take place on the 7th of December in a 360 Stage at The Complex. In this edition, WAVE: Back to Basics aims to bring audiences back to their purpose, touching on the themes of rediscovery and passion for dance, culture, and belonging.

From traditional to modern and street dance styles, WAVE invites dance groups and individuals that honor the cultural diversity of dance in Ireland. Some of the local dance groups invited to perform at WAVE this year are Southside Moves (Afro Dance), led by Lapree Ncube, Ethereal Danza (Commercial), led by Eloy Quezada, Quilombo Terra (Afro-Brazilian), led by Yves Lohrran, Johely Guilarte & The Queens Project (Salsa).

To us, WAVE - Back to Basics is a return to the core of why we fell in love with dance in the first place. This show is a call to reconnect with our belonging, our ‘why,’ our foundations, and what truly matters.” - Vithoria Escobar and Favour Odusola, Founders of UMAKOKO and Creative Directors of WAVE.

Following two successful editions, WAVE gathered excellent reviews and testimonials and reunited an audience of over 400 people. UMAKOKO, with WAVE, aims continue to make dance accessible, inspiring, and inclusive.
