Moving Meitheal Symposium
Dance Ireland CEO Sheila Creevey was delighted to attend Moving Meitheal, a one-day symposium presented by Galway Dance, held at the Mick Lally Theatre on Friday, April 4th. The event explored the relationship between Intangible Cultural Heritage and contemporary dance performance - an important and timely conversation for Ireland's evolving dance landscape.
Part of the Arts Council’s International Residency Initiative Scheme (IRIS), Moving Meitheal brought together a rich mix of artists, panelists, and guests from Ireland, Scotland, and beyond. Through panels such as Future Folktales and Diasporic Dances, the symposium highlighted how traditional forms, lived experiences, and cultural roots continue to influence and inspire contemporary dance practice today.
The event offered a space for critical reflection, dialogue, and sharing - values central to Dance Ireland’s commitment to supporting artists and the wider dance community.
