Eadrainn 2023 Recipients

About Eadrainn/Between Us

Funded by the Irish Arts Council’s International Residency Initiatives Scheme, Dance Ireland and Dance Base Scotland are delighted to work together to offer six, fully resourced reciprocal residencies for three Ireland-based and three Scotland-based artists as part of a programme of artistic and cultural exchange.

Eadrainn / Between Us is a new programme of creative exchange that will build on the existing relationship between Dance Ireland and Dance Base Scotland to provide an opportunity to connect artists across both organisations and countries, to share practice, and to develop an ecology of exchange and collegial support.

“It is not easy for artists to find a supported space to invest in practice, spend time exploring a local ecology, and build their professional network. So, we are really pleased to have the support of Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon, and to be working with Dance Base Scotland to pilot this residency exchange programme. We are looking forward to getting to know all the artists and learning more about ourselves and each other.” Sheila Creevey, CEO – Dance Ireland

"At Dance Base we are super stoked to be deepening those Celtic connections with Dance Ireland. Both organisations share similar values and approaches in the way we support artists. But there's also room to learn from each other and we hope this is the beginning of a longer partnership. Not only that but we are excited to welcome Irish artists into our building, support a diverse range of projects and are happy to be able to provide an opportunity for Scottish artist to wider their own networks. Watch this space...."  Tony Mills, Artistic Director - Dance Base

We are delighted to announce this year’s recipients are:

Alan Greig, Aniela Piasecka, Jack Webb, Jessie Thompson, Julie Lockett and Rocio Dominguez.

Each artist will receive residency space at either Dance Ireland or Dance Base in March 2023 and will be supported through space and resources to develop their creative work, connect with the organization, and deepen their understanding of the other country’s dance sector.

The project will then culminate in a dance symposium in Ireland in April 2023 focusing on the continued exploration of artistic and cultural exchange.
