Co-Motion: All-Island Dance Conference

Dance Ireland and Dance Resource Base in association with Belfast International Arts Festival and Queen’s University Belfast present Co-Motion, Ireland’s first all-island dance conference on 25 and 26 October 2019 in the Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast.

Curator Dr Aoife McGrath, School of Arts, English and Languages, Queen’s University Belfast.

Co-Motion will bring together dance practitioners, researchers, educators, policy makers and supporters to create a platform for putting thought into motion about how we move together.

Featuring keynotes and interviews, panels and roundtables, artist spotlights and performances, the conference aims to mark a significant moment for dance in Ireland.

Considering the artist as citizen, the conference will bring critical attention to complexities of interrelations in this time of precarity and flux. If a renewed hardening of borders threatens division and stasis, how does dance function as a site of connection and movement? How can dance question, confirm and strengthen ongoing currents of fluidity, support and Co-Motion?
