Putting on a production is more than getting the right dancers and choreographers in place. Set, Costume, Lighting and Sound all play a valuable role in both supporting the vision and increasing the context for your work. In our Design for Dance series we've partnered with Junk Ensemble, to present four workshops with the creative team of their new work to give you a closer insight into these elements.
Sabine will begin by speaking about her work as set designer, explaining the specificities of working for dance or physical theatre.
She will then discuss her experiences in dance, speaking about Swan and the process for creating the set for Michael Keegan-Dolan and explain the process Soldier Still.
This will be a combination of talk and photos, finishing with a Q & A.
Sabine has won two Irish Times Best Set-Design Awards and being nominated for two other.
She is free lance Set and Costumes Designer, working mostly in theatre, with various directors and companies: She is happy to work again with “Junk Ensemble” and others designers involve in the project “Soldiers Still”.
Sabine has designed for Mikel Murfi very often, also for Michael Keegan Dolan, Conall Morrison, Enda Walsh, Jim Culleton, Selina Cartmell, and lot of others in Ireland and abroad…Some plays she has worked on toured for long time, such as “Walworth Farce”, “Rian”, “Pride of Parnell”…
She loves theatre and dance, physical theatre, but has also designed for exhibitions, films, and has designed big events (such as GAA 2016 celebration in Croke Park) and street theatre such as Dublin parade’s sections City Fusion and Brighter, taking care of the visual for costumes, floats, props, make up, for about 200 participants.
