This Contemporary Barre workout class is a total body fitness technique which combines the grace and fluidity of Dance, with the core strength and body-conditioning of Pilates, and the graceful flowing posture sequences of Vinyasa Flow Yoga.
The Tuesday night Pilates/Barre/Yoga class is divided into 3 equal parts.
Pilates followed by Barre then Flow Yoga to conclude.
Class starts with a dynamic Pilates mat based sequence.
Pilates concentrates on strengthening the central core and using the abdominal muscles to control different movements. It also encourages you to focus your mind as you exercise the body, improving your general awareness, co-ordination and overall alignment.
This in turn is followed by a sequence at the Ballet-Barre, comprising simple Ballet exercises at the Barre combined with Contemporary and creative Pilates and Yoga informed movement sequences at the Barre.
Resistance Tubes are often included at the barre to increase the intensity.
The third part of class is a Dynamic Vinyasa Flow Yoga sequence.
Vinyasa flow yoga is an evolving form of yoga that focuses on integrating breath and movement, awareness and alignment. Loosely based on the ashtanga primary series but with a more creative approach to the sequencing of postures.
Barre workout is excellent for toning and improving mind-body co-ordination and developing fitness, strength and flexibility. Paul draws on over 25 years of training in professional dance, yoga and pilates to develop this total body workout.
Please wear comfortable clothing for ease of movement. Fresh, clean socks or ballet shoes for the barre work.
