Following its success in 2006 and again in 2008, the Arts Council and RTÉ have announced the third round of RTÉ Dance on the Box. The Arts Council and RTÉ are calling on artists in film and dance to combine their talents and collaborate on the creation of four short dance films which will be premiered on RTÉ television during the 2010 Dublin Dance Festival

Following requests from our members; Tim O’Donnell’s successful Contact Improvisation workshops last November and a well-attended jam in December, we are hosting, on a pilot basis, a series of Contact Improvisation Jams for two hours every Wednesday until 31 March.
Thinking, Talking, Writing Dance is a three day workshop which aims to identify and address the needs of creative artists around writing and will be lead by Jeffrey Gormly, editor of choreograph.net.
Just to give a sense of the potential of DANCE COUNTS: the overall totals line is quite interesting - 15% of our membership (who responded) spent almost €4million, hired 235 dancers and employed 227 others. That 15% had audiences of nearly 44,000 and dance class attendances also nearly 44,000. Outreach activities involved more than 15,500 people.
The third Re-Presenting Ireland studio showcase will take place during the 2010 Dublin Dance Festival at DanceHouse on 14, 15, 21 and 22 May.
The Board of Directors of Dance Ireland gives notice of the Annual General Meeting to be held on Sunday 18 April from 2pm to 4pm at DanceHouse.
The Arts Council has made its major grant allocations for 2010, distributing in excess of €49m to more than 350 arts organisations, of which 18 are dance companies and organisations.
The Arts Council will offer a Dance Project Award for activities commencing in 2010. The deadline will be 5.30pm on Thursday 01 April for applications that are submitted online. The deadline for applications submitted in hard copy will be 5.30pm on Thursday 25 March.

Dance Ireland is a member of the European Dance House Network and partner in the exciting new Modul-Dance programme, 2010 to 2013. This pan-European project involves 18 other dance houses and organisations and will commence later this year. The objective of Modul-Dance is to work towards how best to assist independent dance artists achieve their ambitions - encouraging risk-taking, innovation and culturally diverse practice – and concurrently develop new audiences for dance, in a sustainable and responsible manner.
