This piece came about as a result of a short residency in Dancehouse in early August.The plan for the residency was to draw from dancer and performer Michael Cooney ‘ s life and dance experienceto generate material for a solo work. An informal showing of work at the end of the residency was received very positively,and we are thrilled to be able to show it again as part of phizzfest [phibsboro arts festival].

The piece does not attempt to take a strongly biographical approach but rather from selected moments and experiences,to use these as the ground for the creation of image,movement and surprise,as a way to a more broad and universal significiance. In shifting time and scene,the ordinary can become the extra-ordinary and the audience’s role/position is gently and subtly highlighted.

The dancer/performer is Michael Cooney who can also be seen in the “Listowel Syndrone” shortly at theProject during the Dublin Fringe Festival.

The piece has been devised and choreographed by Peter Duffy.

There will be a short feedback session after the show and all are welcome.
